The Charism of SionThe Family of Sion |
Hornsey Hornsey house is situated on the North side of London. We are two
in our community, Pia and Trish. Our work takes us to the East End of London
where we are both involved with vulnerable adults who live alone, and others
are survivors of mental health. Our philosophy is to try and help to keep
people as well as possible. The East End is a very dynamic place to work with
its multiple culture, ethnicity, religion, unemployment and people with mental
health problems. We are made more aware of the importance of trying to
understand and appreciate Islam and its influence on the lives of the people in
the East End today. It also obliges us to deepen our understanding of this
great religion. We see our house as a place of welcome where people can come
and go, some to chill out others to celebrate and others to be creative delving
in the arts. We are a small community and some might even say retired but we
can assure you that we are very actively involved in life and living. Weekly we
welcome some of our parishioners and others to meditate together and air and
share the problems and joys of our daily lives. Occasionally we have more
intimate Eucharistic celebrations on these occasions some of our associates are
eager to part of it. And we would like to give an open invitation to others who
are interested in our work to join us. It is always at the heart of what we do
as Sisters of Sion, which is to promote justice, peace, reconciliation and love
of the scripture and the Jewish people. These are difficult times we live in
and we need to deepen our understanding of the problems that our world poses to
us as Sisters of Sion. |
