Avila House
The Avila House community in Worthing is situated next door to Our Lady of Sion School where many Sisters of Sion taught in the past. We have strong links with the local church and parishioners are welcomed here each week for a celebration of the Eucharist and for a prayer for peace in our beautiful chapel.
We visit the sick and elderly, work as volunteers in the school, offer spiritual direction and have a thriving group of Associates of Sion who meet here three or four times a year.
We have three sisters who need more specilised nursing care :
- Sr Rosemary is in Worthing,
- Sr Joan is in Burgess Hill
- Sr Edna is in Rustington
Wherever we are we must become involved in the situation in which weare sent.
Our Charism is not defined by activity alone;
nor is it limited to a specific task.
A presence in faith and hope,
an appreciation of the values and significance
of cultures and religions different from our own
is already an apostolic response.
